Importing Motorbike to Australia from Europe?
What Motorbike would you import from Europe to Australia/NZ. I want to use for travel then sell later. Which bike would get the best resale value if its in good condition looked after.
I want it to be a desirable bike so when i have finished traveling i can sell quickly.
Have any travelers out there done the same let us know your experience.
Importing whichever bike you decide on into New Zealand will be no problem, but you won’t be able to get it into Australia. The reason? The bureaucrats who thought up the Australian Design Rules (ADR). These were specifically designed so that cars (especially) and bikes which 99% of the rest of the world are happy with cannot be used in Australia until petty, meaningless changes are made e.g. to lights, wiring and all manner of design aspects. This has two results: 1) special production runs have to be made for Australia, thus increasing the price of imported vehicles; 2) private imports are practically impossible.
