Moped

What’s the pros and cons of a moped vs, car for short commutes?
I am a 19 year old female college student attending Arizona State University and considering getting a Vespa /moped in lieu of a used car.
It’s certainly less expensive in cost, maintenance, insurance, gas, etc, plus it’s better for the environment. Before I decide on that route, I would like to hear if anyone has experience riding a moped in a city / campus environment. I will mainly be using it for short distances – mostly around town (errands, groceries, etc.). What are the pros and cons? Thanks.
lots of pros, of course the obvious ones, gas, environment, etc. not many cons, if really only intended to be used on and nearby campus. most schools have buses running though campus for rainy days and winter. and there is always public transport, taxis, roommates, or friends to run errands in winter. you could also buy some really warm clothes. as far as crossing town and all the other crazy drivers, i would suggest taking a motorcycle safety/training course, and planning my routes on slower 2 lane roads, but after a few months of riding to build skills and confidence you should be fine. the main pro for a young college student for a scooter over a used car is the total operating cost is far lower, not just gas but general upkeep and insurance as well. anyways i think its a good idea, happy riding.
